We are extremely proud to announce the General Availability of Integra 1.0, the only IT automation and orchestration platform that we believe you'll ever need. The fine lines between day and night, weekday and weekend, holiday and not, have been blurred into one contiguous work-only landscape that has led us to this point. The simplicity we set out to accomplish with Integra is only eclipsed by the power the platform provides.

Pipes and Variable Substitution

Integra has a a powerful mechanism for actions to consume the results of other actions.  With the help of pipes, you can feed an action's results to one or more actions when combined in a workflow.  This blog post gives you examples of how to make the most of Integra's piping mechanism, and also how to use variable substitution--or inlining, as we affectively refer to it.  The examples used in this post assume you are familiar with Integra and that you have it installed and running.

Imagine you wanted to get an email on a weekly basis showing you how your virtual machines were doing in terms of CPU and memory utilization. Specifically, you wanted to know if you had allocated more CPUs or more memory than you should have; or, to the contrary, that you had allocated too little to virtual machines that really needed it. Knowing which virtual machines you inadvertently starved was a great first step, but lets go one step further and imagine that you actually wanted to do something about it.

Backing Up Oracle to Amazon S3

This blog post is going to show you how we use Integra to backup an Oracle database to Amazon S3, running on any storage hardware. We won't zero in on a specific storage vendor because in doing so we would defeat the core purpose behind Integra.  Instead, the workflow we create will apply to any storage vendor, so making this work with what you have in your IT shop is simpler than you may think.  If we don't have the storage provider you require, please contact us so we can work with you on that.

"Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler."

A powerful statement (commonly attributed to Albert Einstein), and one that we strive to align with as we work on Integra for you.  The installer is a true testament to that, as you can get all of Integra and its Providers installed with our 1-line installer in a few minutes.  Provide values such as hostname and credentials, answer a couple of yes/no questions, and you'll have Integra installed in no time.
