Adobe says it clearly: "The Adobe AIR runtime enables developers to deploy stand-alone applications build with HTML, JavaScript, ActionScript, Flex, Adobe Flash Professional, and Adobe Flash Builder across platforms…"

And now, thanks to Emitrom, we can add Java to that list. That is correct, we welcome Java to the growing list of languages that are targeted to the AIR runtime. Code and debug in Java using your IDE of choice and deploy it to Adobe AIR.

As a Java developer, you are now able to write beautiful-looking applications for the desktop and run them in Adobe AIR. The Air4j API gives you native access to the platform, so you are free to roam and do the same things that you are accustomed to in a traditional thick-client Java application, but with the beauty of a richly crafted user interface.
